If you look around, you see people who have succeeded in what they set out to do in life, and some who haven’t. What is the difference between them? Why does one person succeed and another fail? What does the successful person do that the less successful person should do?
The Oxford Dictionary defines success as: The accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
Success can be business, education, or work-related, but it isn’t confined to the career sector of life. Success can also be more personal, and can involve things like family, health, happiness, and general goal-setting.
Success isn’t like rubbing a magic lamp and a genie pops out to grant your life’s desires. It’s more concrete and attainable than that.
The simple truth is, perhaps those who haven’t succeeded didn’t know how to go about it, or went about it the wrong way. It’s never too late to try. By adopting these 4 new habits, you can become a success too:
Be willing to change. Exchange your old habits for new ones. Are you
a procrastinator? Do you sleep in late? Do you find it hard to set schedules and goals? You must be willing to do things a new way.
Start small. You will become overwhelmed quickly by new habits if you try to incorporate them all at once. Introduce one at a time. Start with something small. For example, if you’re a late sleeper, set your alarm for an hour earlier each day. Do this on a weekly basis until you’re up with the dawn. You will be amazed at how much you can accomplish with a full day’s work.
Begin a routine. This makes it easy to know what to expect every day. If you have a tendency to allow distractions to take you away from important tasks, a schedule or routine will help you keep your goal in mind and improve productivity.
Repetition. After you reach one goal and realize what it took to accomp
lish it, do it again with another goal. If you like to network or have larger goals on your agenda, make sure the people you surround yourself with adhere to routines and schedules too.
One thing to avoid is working with friends just because they’re your friends. It can become a sticky situation if you hire your friends but then he or she slacks off the job because they think they can get away with it or take advantage of you.
Friends can be fun to work with, but they often don’t make the best employees or partners. Make sure your team is compatible and as goal-oriented as you are.
